Children, Young People & Family Services Social Care
For children, young people and families experiencing
domestic abuse. Advice and assistance to victims of domestic abuse is
available
You can be referred to them either directly or by referral from
other specialist services
The main focus will be the safety and wellbeing of any children living in a household where there is evidence of domestic abuse and may include direct work with any child(ren) as well as advice and support for the non abusing parent aimed at strengthening their parenting skills and assisting them to make safe choices for their child(ren).
In order to identify what is required the social worker will
need to complete an initial assessment which will require discussion with
members of the family to try and get a clear understanding of what is
happening.
The social worker will be sensitive to the risks which may be
posed by contact with the abusive partner and in some cases will not involve
them where it is believed this will increase the risks.
